GMA Celebrates 126th Philippine Independence Day with the
Inauguration of New Municipal Plaza

General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite – In celebration of the 126th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez proudly inaugurated the newly renovated GMA Municipal Plaza and the
Monument of General Mariano Alvarez, dubbed “Liwasang Mainam.” The inauguration, led by Mayor Maricel E. Torres was graced by the descendants of General Mariano Alvarez and renowned Filipino sculptor Frederic Caedo, who created the new statue of GMA

Liwasang Mainam stands as a symbol of GMA’s progress and rich cultural diversity, with its design reflecting the town’s 27 barangays, the cultured oyster mushroom, and the life and history of General Mariano Alvarez. The name “Mainam,” General Alvarez’s code name in the Katipunan, honors his legacy and the historical significance of GMA.

Mayor Torres emphasized the importance of a positive outlook, stating, “When we remain positive, we make the best out of what we have, delivering exceptional service despite our limitations.” The event also featured Mayor Torres’ “Ulat sa Bayan,” highlighting the
municipality’s achievements.
